PURPOSE: To prevent the fusion of a thermal transfer sheet and a receiving sheet to a heating roll by emergently releasing the printing pressure applied to both sheets by immediately separating a pair of heating rolls opposed each other when the rotation of a printer is stopped by the accident generated during thermal transfer and the introduced heat transfer sheet and the receiving sheet are stopped between the heating rolls.
CONSTITUTION: An upper heating roll 1 supported in a rotatable manner at a constant position, the guide roll 9 operated up and down to horizontally guide a thermal transfer sheet 2 and a receiving sheet to the region under the upper heating roll 1, a lower heating roll 10 operated up and down in opposed relation to the upper heating roll 1 and a raising and lowering driving means 8 operating the lower heating roll 10 so as to raise and lower the same are provided. The raising and lowering driving means is operated by the abnormality signal of one of or both of the upper and lower heating rolls to immediately lower the lower heating roll 10.
