Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a printing unit capable of automatically being switched from one plate cylinder to the next plate cylinder without stopping the rotary printing machine.

CONSTITUTION: A space 2 for containing carriages 4, 5 for supporting two plate cylinders 8, 9 is formed in the printing unit 1. An impression cylinder 40 for pressing a rolled sheet 39 to the cylinders 8, 9 is received at its end by movable slides 36 to controllably move a vertical surface. The slides are received by a moving base 31 controllably moving at positions along a horizontal guide unit 30 provided at a side of the unit 1. Since the cylinder 40 can be moved from the cylinder 8 to 9 (or vice verse) as the printing machine remains operated, the cylinder 8 can be replaced without stopping the printer.
