Title:
PROCESS FOR ADSORPTIVELY REMOVING TRACE METAL FROM HYDROCARBON FRACTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3624671
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process whereby a trace metal, especially mercury can be adsorptively removed from a hydrocarbon fraction at good efficiency irrespectively of the form of the contained mercury.
SOLUTION: A hydrocarbon fraction containing a trace metal, especially mercury is hydrotreated, and the hydrotreated distillate is brought into contact with a porous carbonaceous material. Especially, a light hydrocarbon fraction obtained by distilling the hydrotreated distillate and recovering the fraction cut at 100°C or below is brought into contact with a porous carbonaceous material, desirably particulate active carbon having a specific surface area of 100m2/g-2,500m2/g and satisfying the equation: (a)-(b)≤5% of the volume of pores with pore diameters of 50&angst or smaller (wherein (a)-(b) is the difference between the volume (a) of pores with pore diameters of 35.0-37.5&angst and the volume (b) of pores with pore diameters of 42.5-45.0&angst ). According to this process, the trace metal can be removed nearly completely for a long term irrespectively of the form of the trace metal.
