To provide a process control system that can implement interconnection between process control networks and exchange of information between process control networks by communicatively linking two or more process control networks for exchange of information; a local process control network in a process control system; an interzone server in a local process control network; and a data transmission method in a process control system.

The process control system includes a plurality of zones containing process control networks communicatively interconnected to exchange information necessary to monitor the system and to perform process control. Each zone has the interzone server that controls the exchange of information between the zones via communication links. In addition to controlling the routing of information between the zones, the interzone servers perform additional processing on the information being exchanged, such as security monitoring, language translation and version control.
