Title:
PROCESS FOR GRINDING FLOATING MAGNETIC HEAD SLIDER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5715658
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To perform a highly accurate grinding in a short time without any scatter by a method wherein a plurality of sliders of a floating magnetic head are mounted in a swing arm so as to perform a grinding operation.

CONSTITUTION: Slider 3 mounted on a swing arm 9 and to be ground is forcibly brought in contact with a grinding film 10 by a press contact mechanism, and a grinding operation is performed while the slider is worn out by a swinging movement of the arm 9. In this case, the rubber sheet 11 is deformed due to a press contact of the slider 3, and a desired contact with a grinding surface of the slider is made in response to a pressure applied to the sheet 11 under a resilient force of the sheet 11, a coefficient of resiliency and thickness of the sheet 11. As described above, since contact of a grinding surface of the slider 3 with the film 10 are made in a plane, a high grinding speed as well as a continuous contact portion are available, and a smooth enclosing surface may be provided together with an easy control of grinding pressure setting and holding, resulting in providing a highly accurate grinding and less scatter.
