PURPOSE: To obtain a longer operating cycle by performing in two-step vapor- phase reaction regions the complete hydrogenation of unsaturated hydrocarbons and organic sulfides in the raw material for production of aromatics.
CONSTITUTION: A process for hydrogenating unsaturated hydrocarbons and organic sulfides in hydrocarbons by mixing them with a hydrogen containing gas in the presence of a sulfur-containing catalyst having cobalt and molybdenum supported on alumina, wherein vapor-phase reaction regions are established in two steps in series, with the first region having an inlet temperature of 150-350°C and a pressure of 10-100 kg/cm2.G and the second region having an inlet temperature at least equal to the outlet temperature of the first region and a pressure of 10-100 kg/cm2.G.
