Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a filter unit of gas and liq. permeable and adsorbable formed body by mixing a dryed adsorbent and thermoplastic, org. binder, placing in a mould, after compacting, heating to carbonize, and coking.
CONSTITUTION: An adsorbent such as activated carbon, etc., and a granular org. thermoplastic binder are dryed to mix. The dryed mixture is then placed in a mould, after compacted, the mixture in the mould is heated, remarkably excluding air, at a temp. above the plastic range of the binder and kept at that temp. until drying and partial coking of the binder occur. Then the formed body 8' is cooled to remove from the mould. As the result the adsorbent body 8' is filled up between porous supporting walls of an entry side 4 and an exit side 6. In the obtained filter unit 10 the granules of the adsorbent are fixed in the residual structure of the org. binder which is carbonized, partially and openporedly coked and has micropores.
