PURPOSE: To improve workability and productivity in a process for manufacturing skis, wherein a strip of prepreg which is to be used as a stock for forming fiberglass reinforced thermoplastic is slit, and before the slit strip is laminated it is diverged at opposite ends thereof into a shape such that the size distribution of its width corresponds to that of a ski.
CONSTITUTION: In laminating prepregs 10, which will constitute upper and lower FRP layers 3, 4 on a core body 2, together with upper and lower ski members 5 to 8 and integrating them by hot-press, at least one of prepregs 10 is formed to have an even width through its length which is identical to the minimum width of a center 10a of a ski 1. The prepreg 10 is slit longitudinally to have slit portions 11 with the center 10a remainded unslit, and when the prepreg is laminated its opposite ends are diverged to make the size distribution of its width conform to that of the ski. Therefore, by the present process the shape of a prepreg is conformed to the shape of a ski simply and effectively without sharging or cutting the prepreg by modeling as in the conventional art.
