Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for preparing a compound of the formula ArSCH3 used for preparing a 3-arylsulfur hydroxamic acid.
SOLUTION: This process for preparing the compound of the formula ArSCH3 in which Ar is an aryl group comprises treating a compound of the formula ArSO2Cl with trimethyl phosphite, then, as necessary, treating the resulant compound with a base and forming the compound of the ArSCH3.
