Title:
PROCESS FOR REMOVING CONTINUOUSLY GASEOUS OXYGEN IN GASEOUS HYDROGEN UTILIZING HYDROGEN OCCLUDING ALLOY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6051607
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce gaseous H2 of high purity from crude gaseous H2 contg. O2 gas as impurity by utilizing catalytic effect of hydrogen occluding alloy.

CONSTITUTION: (i) Gaseous hydrogen of high purity from a cylinder 4' is flowed on hydrogen occluding alloy 2 (e.g. Ti1.2Cr1.2Mn0.8) in a cartridge 2 to activate the alloy. Then, (ii) after setting the cartridge 2 to hydrogen non-occluding condition, crude hydrogen contg. O2 as impurity (e.g. H2 gas obtd. by electrolysis of water) is flowed from a cylinder 4, and contained O2 is converted to H2O; H2O is removed in a dehydrating tube 3 packed with a dehydrating agent 31 (e.g. molecular sieve, CaCl2) by adsorption. Thus, gaseous H2 of high purity contg. no O2 is produced.
