Title:
PROCESS FOR REMOVING UNPOLYMERIZED GASEOUS MONOMER FROM OLEFIN POLYMER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2794383
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To effectively remove unpolymerized gaseous monomers from the polymers by feeding an inert purge gas through a vessel contg. constraint means which defines the upper limit of an expandable bed in the vessel and countercurrently contacting the solid polymer.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of removing unpolymerized gaseous monomers from solid olefin polymers contg. unpolymerized gaseous monomers, the solid olefin polymers (for example, ethylene-propylene ethylidenenorbornene terpolymer or the like) are fed to the purging vessel 10 through the guide pipe 12, and transferred through the hopper 18 of inlet for solid parts at an upper part 14 of the vessel 10 via the purging pipe 22 to the lower part 16. The transferred portions are fed to the purging vessel 10 from the guide pipe 35, by countercurrently contacting with purging gas rising through the distribution plate 36, the porous plate 28 and the screen 30, forming a sufficiently expanded floor at the lower part, removing gaseous monomers from the polymers, gathering at the gas collecting room 26 to purge the gas through the outlet 48, and the solid polymers are purged to outside through the purging pipe 46.
