A fabric comprising a solvent spinning cellulose yarn is dyed, fibrillated and treated with an alkali in 3-30 % aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide at a room temperature for 30-90 seconds and fine fibrils formed on the surface of the yarn by the fibrillation treatment are shrunk in the fiber axis direction to darken the fabric by suppressing the irregular reflection of light.
