PURPOSE: To maintain development quality stably for a long period by composing a supplementary liquid developer of a solution which contains a surface active agent and an organic solvent and a solution which contains a reducing agents.
CONSTITUTION: A negative type PS plate is developed by an automatic developing machine with a negative-only liquid developer which is used repeatedly by supplementing the supplementary liquid developer. A solution which contains the surface active agent and organic solvent and the solution which contains the reducing agent are supplemented as the supplementary liquid developer by supplementary amounts determined by the processing quantity of negative PS plates to be developed per unit time, the temperature of the outside air, and the type of the automatic developing machine.
