Next, the formation of the dye images is stopped and the material is processed with a bath contg. a fixing agent which does not hinder the bleaching in the next bleaching bath at need. The material is thereafter bleached by a first bleaching bath contg. hydrogen peroxide or a material for providing the hydrogen peroxide and alkali metal halide as the bleaching agent. Next, the material is fixed with a fixing bath contg. alkaline metal sulfite or sulfite as a fixing agent and is processed with a bath of ≤pH5 contg. a colorless oxidizing agent for decomposing the sulfurous acid ions. The material is thereafter subjected to washing or stabilizing.
