Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To heighten the developing efficiency for a planographic printing plate and improve the mechanical strength of a silver image so as to obtain excellent printing performance by using a developing solution containing at least one kind of quaternary salt polymer.
SOLUTION: In a processing method for a planographic printing plate using a silver salt diffusion transfer method, used is a developing solution containing at least one kind of tetrachloride polymer. An automatic transport developing unit used for the developing processing is so constructed that a photosensitive material is transported by a pair of driving transport rollers, carried in a processing tank filled with a processing solution, and after a fixed time, the material is carried out from the processing tank. The capacity of the processing tank depends the size of the photosensitive material to be processed, ranges from several litres to several tens of litres, and the dipping time for the photosensitive material ranges from 5 seconds to 60 second. The quantity of developing solution applied to the planographic printing plate is 10-60ml per 1m2 of the printing plate, preferably in the region of 20-50ml, and the developing time is 15 seconds or less, preferably in the region of 3-10 seconds.
