Abstract:
To provide a method for machining a screw shaft that can machine the shaft using a general-purpose complex machining machine.SOLUTION: A method for machining a screw shaft W of a ball screw uses a complex machine tool 2 that is equipped with a tool spindle 7 which rotates a tool TM while holding the tool, work-piece spindles (9 and 20) which rotate a shaft-like work-piece W while gripping the work-piece, and support devices (11 and 25) which are arranged to oppose to the work-piece spindles (9 and 20) and support the shaft-like work-piece W rotatably. In a state where one end of the work-piece W is held by the work-piece spindles (9 and 20) and the other end of the shaft-like work-piece W is held by the support device (11 and 25), the shaft-like work-piece W is rotated by the work-piece spindles (9 and 20), and a rotary cutting tool TM is attached to the tool spindle 7 and is rotated, and the rotary cutting tool TM is moved along a shaft direction of the shaft-like work-piece W to cut and machine a screw groove on the shaft-like work-piece W.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
