Title:
PRODUCTION OF 1 ALPHA-HYDROXYVITAMIN D
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3735393
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain 1α-hydroxyvitamin D which is useful in therapy for chronic renal failure or osteoporosis by directly converting the 1α-position of vitamin D to a hydroxyl group with the cell bodies or a solution containing its enzyme of an actinomycetes capable of hydroxylating vitamin D.
CONSTITUTION: A vitamin D bearing H at the 1α-position is added to a solution containing cell bodies or the enzyme produced therefrom of an actinomycetes capable of hydroxylating vitamin D, for example, Nocardioides albus A13-2 (FERM P-14183) or Amycolata sp. A2019 (FERM P-14184), to effect direct conversion of the H to hydroxyl group. Thereby, the objective 1α-hydroxyvitamin D such as 1α-hydroxyvitamin D3 useful in treatment for chronic renal failure, osteoporosis or the like is efficiently obtained.
