Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject high-purity compound by iodizing a fluorene in a lower alcohol using iodine or iodic acid as an iodizing reagent to introduce an iodine atom into the 2-site of the fluorene in high efficiency.
CONSTITUTION: This 2-iodofluorene compound can be obtained by iodizing a fluorene using iodine or iodic acid as an iodizing reagent in a primary lower alcohol medium (esp. pref. methyl alcohol). As the fluorene compound, 9,9- dimethylfluorene is esp. preferable; thereby, 2-iodo-9,9-dimethylfluorene can be obtained. This 2-iodofluorene is useful as an intermediate for producing electronic materials, dyes, medicines, etc.
