Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a (3-alkoxyphenyl)magnesium chloride, and to provide a method for using this compound in the reaction of a specific carbonyl compound.
SOLUTION: This (3-C1-5alkoxyphenyl)magnesium chloride is obtained by reaction of the corresponding (3-alkoxyphenyl) chloride with an activated magnesium prepared by reducing a magnesium halide by an alkali metal.
