Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively and safely obtain the subject compound which is an advantageous raw material for insecticides having (tetrahydro-3-furanyl) methylamino group or various kinds of intermediates under mild conditions to the utmost.
SOLUTION: 3-Formyltetrahydrofuran (FAD) is catalytically hydrogenated in the presence of a metal catalyst selected from a palladium catalyst, a platinium catalyst and a nickel catalyst to provide the objective 3-(tetrahydrofuryl)methylamine or its salt, e.g. a compound of the formula (R1 to R3 are H or a lower alkyl). The catalyst is used in an amount of 0.1-100wt.%, preferably about 1-50wt.% based on FAD. Ammonia is used in an amount of about 1-100 times by mol based on FAD. The reaction temperature is preferably about 10-100°C and the pressure is preferably about 5-50kg/cm2. Since the producing method is high in both of convertion and yield, the method is especially advantageous as industrial production.
