Abstract:

PURPOSE: To continuously produce 5-aminolevulinic acid in high producing efficiency.

CONSTITUTION: In producing 5-aminolevulinic acid by anaerobically culturing a culture medium containing a methane-producing bacterium, proliferation substrate of the methane producing bacterium and an inhibitor of 5-aminolevulinic acid dehydratase, glutamic acid is added to the culture medium. This method for continuously producing 5-aminolevulinic acid by using the methane-producing bacterium is to carry out anaerobic culture of the methane producing bacterium in a bioreactor retaining the methane-producing bacterium in high concentration while feeding a culture medium containing a proliferation substrate of the methane-producing bacterium, the inhibitor of 5-aminolevulinic acid dehydratase and glutamic acid into the bioreactor and take out the culture medium containing no bacterial cell from outlet of the bioreactor and recover 5- aminolevulinic acid in the culture medium.
