Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject deriv. useful for synthesizing a sulfonylurea herbicide by reacting a malonate compd. with a dithiocarboxylate compd.
CONSTITUTION: (A) a malonate compd. represented by formula I (wherein R1 is H, 1-4C alkyl, allyl or propargyl; and R3 is H, methyl, ethyl or phenyl) is reacted with (B) a dithiocarboxylate compd. represented by formula II (wherein R is 1-4C alkyl, 2-4C alkenyl, allylalkyl or allyl; and R2 is H, 1-4C alkyl or phenyl having at least one substituent among halogen, nitro and methyl) in the presence of a base such as sodium ethoxide or the like to obtain a 5- pyrazolemercaptan deriv. represented by formula III. As an example of the deriv., there is 4-ethoxycarbonyl-1-methyl-5-pyrazolmercaptan.
