Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce an acid and an alkali by digesting wood chips occurring in a kraft pulp manufacturing process to give black liquor, burning components contained in the black liquor to give ash and reusing the ash.
CONSTITUTION: Wood chips are digested to give black liquor and components contained in the black liquor are burnt to give ash. An aqueous solution of the ash is decomposed by electric dialysis using a highly porous film, a cation exchange film and/or an anion exchange film to produce an acid and an alkali.
