Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method for producing acrylamide especially useful as a raw material for producing polyacrylamide for a flocculant, having a sufficiently high molecular weight and good in water solubility in which the high"quality acrylamide is obtained even by using acrylonitrile of usual quality.
CONSTITUTION: This method for producing acrylamide is to pass acrylonitrile through at least two or more purifying steps for bringing the acrylonitrile into contact with a strong acidic cation exchange resin and then bringing the resultant compound into contact with a resin having a primary and/or a secondary amino groups or active carbon and subsequently hydrate the resultant compound in the presence of a copper-based catalyst.
