PURPOSE: To obtain the subject compd. with high purity and in high yield which is useful for treatment of synthetic paper, woven fabric and leather with a polymer used as a coating adhesive by the reaction of (meth)acrylate and a heterocyclic alcohol in the presence of a catalyst.

CONSTITUTION: A (meth)acrylate expressed by formula I (wherein R1 is H, methyl; R2 is a 1 to 4 C alkyl) is made to react with a heterocyclic alcohol expressed by formula II (wherein A, B are each a 2 to 5 C alkylene) in the presence of at least one kind of catalyst selected from a dialkyltin oxide, a dialkyltin dialkoxide and a dialkyl tin diester at 70 to 120°C to obtain a compd. expressed by formula III. The molar ratio of the compd. of formula I to the compd. of formula II is 1.1 to 6.0 and the catalyst is used by 0.05 to 2 mol% to one mol of the compd. of formula I. It is preferable to add a polymn. inhibitor (e.g. phenothiazine) at the reaction.
