Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce the titled compound useful as an active component of a plant blight controlling agent, in high yield, by reacting an aqueous solution of hypophosphorous acid with a specific acetal.
CONSTITUTION: Preferably a 30W80% aqueous solution of hypophosphorous acid is made to react with 1W2 equivalent of the acetal of formula (R and R' are lower alkyl or together form alkylene) (e.g. acetaldehyde dimethylacetal) in a solvent (e.g. methanol) at -50W+80°C for 5W24hr to obtain the objective compound.
