Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject compounds useful as a polymerization initiating catalyst in high yield according to simple reactional operation without forming by-products by reacting an amine with dihalogenoazoalkanes in acetic acid.
CONSTITUTION: An amine or sodium acetate or both are made to react with α,α'-dihalogenoazoalkanes of formula I (R1 and R2 are lower alkyl or aryl; X is halogen) [e.g. 1,1'-azobis(1-chloro-1-phenylethane)] in a mixed solvent of acetic acid with preferably a halogenated hydrocarbon to afford the objective compound of formula II.
