Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a process for producing an alumina fiber modified with metal.
CONSTITUTION: An alumina fiber modified with a metal is produced by spinning a dope composed mainly of an alumina fiber precursor, calcining the obtained precursor fiber at a low temperature, impregnating a metal compound into the calcined fiber and baking the product. A metal-modified alumina fiber containing an aribitrary amount of metallic component can be produced without varying the composition of the spinning dope.
