Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an alumina porous carrier capable of being rapidly sintered and having uniform physical properties by introducing an alumina molded product comprising alumina powder and an inorganic binder into a roller hearth kiln and subsequently sintering the molded product at a specific temperature.
SOLUTION: This method for producing an alumina porous carrier comprises adding 2.3-4.0 pts.wt. of carboxymethylcellulose and 1-15 pts.wt. of a pore- forming material to 100 pts.wt. of an alumina raw material comprising 92-97 pts.wt. of alumino powder and 3-8 pts.wt. of a mullite-based inorganic binder, molding the mixture, drying the molded product, charging the dried molded product into a sintering vessel, loading the molded product on a roller 100 used for transferring an article to be sintered and disposed in a tunnel 10 comprising a steel casing and a refractory material, transferring the molded product, preliminarily heating the molded product in a preliminarily heating zone 11, sintering the molded product in a sintering zone 12 at a temperature of 1,520 to 1,560°C for 5-8 hr and subsequently introducing the sintered product into cooling zone 13 to cool.
