To safely and easily obtain an amine derivative useful as a medicine, a perfume, etc., in a high yield at a low cost by reducing a nitrile derivative under specific conditions.
This method for producing an amine derivative of the formula: R1CH2NH2 comprises reducing (A) a nitrile derivative of the formula: R1CN {R1 is a group of formula I [a group of formula II is a single bond or a double bond; R2 is H, a lower alkyl, a lower alkoxy or a halogen; (n) is 0, 1-3] or the like) with (B) sodium borohydride in the presence of (C) sulfuric acid. Therein, the component A is preferably 1-[1-(4-fluoropphenetyl)pyridin-4-yl]-6- cyanoindoline, etc., and the components B and C are preferably used in amounts of 1.0-5.0 equivalents and 1.0-5.0 equivalents, respectively. The used solvent is preferably ethylene glycol dimethyl ether, etc.
