To produce amine in high yield, i.e., in high selectivity and high spatiotemporal yield by reacting ammonia or primary or secondary amine with olefin at high temperature and high pressure by using a specific heterogeneous catalyst.
This objective amine of formula III is obtained by reacting a primary or secondary amine of formula I (R1 and R2 are each H, an alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, etc.), or ammonia with an olefin of formula II (R3 to R6 are each the same as R1 or R2) at 200 to 350°C and 100 to 300 bar in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst consisting of NU-85 zeolite. This NU-85 zeolite catalyst may be ion-exchanged or doped with alkali metal, alkali earth metal or rare earth metal. Also, the catalyst may be subjected to acid treatment by using such an acid as hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid. Preferably, there is recycled the material which has not been converted yet when the amine of formula III is isolated.
