Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce 1-(2,6-dimethylphenoxy)-2-aminopropane from 1(2,6- dimethylphenoxy)-2-propanone as an inexpensive raw material by one process readily and safely in high yield.
CONSTITUTION: 1-(2,6-Dimethylphenoxy)-2-propanone is reductively aminated with hydrogen gas in the presence of Raney-nickel catalyst in an ammonia- containing mixed solvent of a 1-5C aliphatic alcohol and water to provide a production method for 1-(2,6-dimethylphenoxy)-2-aminopropane.
