Abstract:

To improve the fluidity of powder at the time of compacting and to enable the production of a magnet excellent in magnetic properties by applying the magnetic field to slurry immediately after its passing through an atomizer and, while the powder is magnetically orientated, simultaneously drying and solidifying the same.

For example, the liq. drops 4 of the slurry of a rare earth-contg. alloy sprayed by a rotary disk I type atomizer pass through uniform static magnetism formed on the gaps of a magnetic circuit composed of a disk-shaped permanent magnet 5 and a yoke 6. Heated inert gas is jetted on the recovering part 7 from an exhaust nozzle 9 to dry the liq. drops 4, thereafter, it is exhausted from an exhaust port 10. In such a constitution, the liq. drops 4 sprayed from the atomizer are dried and solidified while being magnetically orientated to form into anisotropic granular powder, which is then collected in a recovering container 8. Furthermore, the spraying opening angle of the slurry to the space between magnetic pole faces is preferably regulated to ≤20 degrees. Moreover, the smaller the angle, the shorter the distance between the magnetic pole opposite faces, and the higher magnetic field intensity can be obtd.
