Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an aqueous organopolysiloxane solution having excellent storage stability, and to provide a coating composition capable forming coating films having excellent curability, water resistance and stain resistance.
SOLUTION: This method for producing an aqueous organopolysiloxane solution comprises (I) a process for hydrolyzing and condensing a mixture comprising (a) 100 pts.wt. of an organosilane of the formula: R1nSi(OR2)4-n [R1 is an organic group; R2 is an alkyl group; (n) is 1 or 2] and/or its partial hydrolytic condensation product, (b) 3-100 pts.wt. of an amino group-containing alkoxysilane, and (c) water in an amount of 0.2-0.5 equivalents per equivalent of the hydrolyzable functional groups, (II) a process for adding an acid in an amount for neutralizing 0.25-0.65 equivalent of the amino groups of the hydrolytic condensation product in the partial hydrolytic condensation product solution obtained in the process (I), and water in an amount of ≥0.8 equivalent per equivalent of the total hydrolyzable functional groups to the hydrolytic condensation product solution and further subjecting the hydrolytic condensation product to the hydrolytic condensation reaction, and (III) adding a neutralizing agent to the reaction product solution obtained in the process (II).
