Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently obtain the subject compound capable of easily giving crystal powder, excellent in handleability and useful as an additive, etc., in a high purity and in a high yield by reacting a specific aromatic monohydroxy compound with a phosphorus oxyhalide under a specific condition.
SOLUTION: This method for producing an aromatic bisphosphate comprises the first process for reacting an aromatic monohydroxy compound having a sterically hindered group at the ortho position with a phosphorus oxyhalide in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst, and the second process for reacting the reaction product in the first process with an aromatic dihydroxy compound in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst to obtain the aromatic bisphosphate. Therein, the aromatic monohydroxy compound is reacted with the phosphorus oxyhalide in a molar ratio of 2/1 to 1.1/2, preferably 2/1 to 1/1.05, in the first process, and the reaction mixture obtained in the first process is distilled with a thin film distillation device, etc., and subsequently subjected to the second process, thereby enabling to obtain the highly pure aromatic bisphosphate.
