Title:
PRODUCTION OF AROMATIC-SUBSTITUTED CHLOROHYDROCARBON BY CHLORINATION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3768572
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To directly and efficiently obtain through a simple process a chlorohydrocarbon compound useful as a cationic polymerization initiator without producing any olefin compound or alcohol compound as intermediate.
SOLUTION: This compound, an aromatic-substituted chlorohydrocabon of formula I ((m) and (n) are each an integer of 0-3, and (m+n) is an integer of 2-4) [e.g. 1,3-bis(α-chloroisopropyl)benzene], is obtained by reaction of a compound of formula II (e.g. 1,3-diisopropylbenzene) with a chlorinating agent of formula III (R is H, a 1-20C hydrocarbon or mono- to trivalent metal atom; (x) is an integer of 1-3) (e.g. hypochlorous acid) pref. at -20 to 40°C for 10-300min in the molar ratio of the compound of formula III to the compound of formula II of pref. equal to or less than (n).
