Title:
PRODUCTION OF ARTIFICIAL DIAMOND POWDER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3099539
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce the cost of production by irradiating a falling flow of glassy carbon powder having a specified particle diameter range with laser beams.
CONSTITUTION: Glassy carbon powder having 0.1-100μm particle diameter range is allowed to fall naturally from a storage tank into an atmosphere in which an inert gas such as He flows at a prescribed flow rate. Laser beams emitted from a laser oscillator such as CO2 laser are converged on the resulting falling flow to form a laser beam converged region, the convergence temp. is regulated at ≥2,000°C and the falling flow is continuously irradiated with the laser beams Artifical diamond powder is obtd. at a low cost.
