PURPOSE: To obtain the subject compd. of an intermediate for a plant protecting agent and, etc., by a simple one-step process from easily available starting raw materials by bringing an aryl carboxylic acid deriv. and perfluoroalkyl halide into reaction in the presence of tridialkylamie sulfite.
CONSTITUTION: The aryl carboxylic acid deriv. expressed by formula I (R1 to R5 are H, 1 to 6C alkyl which may be perfluorated, halogen, alkoxy, alkylthio; X is Cl, Br, F, bridge of an acid anhydride) and the perfluoroalkyl halide of formula II (Hal is Cl, Br, I; (n) is 1 to 6) into reaction in the presence of the tridialkylamide sulfite, by which the aryl perfloroalkyl ketone [e.g.: 1-(3,4-dimethyl-phenyl)-2,2,2-trifluoroethane-1-one, etc.] is obtd. This compd. is useful as the intermediate for production of medicines, plant protecting gents and plastics.
