Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the method for producing the astaxanthin with Phaffia rhodozyma improved in high temperature resistance and digestive absorbability.

CONSTITUTION: The production of the astaxanthin by the use of a cell fusion regenerated strain of Phaffia rhodozyma with a yeast capable of growing at ≥28°C and of being easily lysed with a single cell wall-lysing enzyme. The regenerated stain has higher astaxanthin productivity than conventional Phaffia rhodozyma, and can produce the astaxanthin having a coloring effect close to that of natural astaxanthin.
