PURPOSE: To produce the subject adduct as an optically active substance of high optical purity without containing a rare earth metallic element in high yield by carrying out the Michael addition reaction with a specific metallic complex comprising an optically active binaphthol, etc. CONSTITUTION: The asymmetric Michael reaction is carried out by using a metallic complex prepared by reacting (A) an optically active binaphthol or its derivative [preferably a compound of the formula (R1 to R4 are each H, a lower alkyl, a lower alkoxyl, a halogen, cyano or nitro)] with (B) an alkali metallic aluminum hydride (e.g. lithium aluminum hydride) or an alkali metallic aluminum hydride compound [e.g. sodium-bis(methoxyethoxy)aluminum hydride] at (1-4):1 equiv. ratio of the components (A) to (B). Furthermore, the asymmetric phosphonylating reaction is preferably carried out by using the metallic complex.
