Abstract:
PURPOSE: To form an NiAl intermetallic compound excellent in high temp. corrosion resistance by performing diffusion treatment under the condition where heat treatment temp. and time are specified with respect to the thickness of an Al coating.
CONSTITUTION: An Al coating is provided to the surface of an austenitic stainless steel sheet strip by means of hot dipping, cladding, mechanical plating, etc. Then, diffusion heat treatment is done in a nonoxidizing atmosphere of 700-800°C for a time not shorter than the time corresponding to 1/5 of the thickness (μm) of the Al coating. This method is suitable for treating sheets and does not require long time unlike a pack coating method.
