Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an auxiliary binder for stock coal to be charged into a coke oven, friendly to environments because of its low content of low-boiling hydrocarbons and easily mixed with the stock coal because of its low viscosity.
SOLUTION: This method produces an auxiliary binder for stock coal to be charged into a coke oven, little susceptible to thermal polymerization, by equilibrium flash distillation, where coal tar as a by-product of coke production is charged into a flash distillation tower 4 provided with upper and lower chambers for 2-stage equilibrium flash distillation, and the coal tar stream charged into the distillation tower top and the other stream charged into the bottom of the upper chamber are heated, the sensible heat of the coal tar streams being used as the latent heat of vaporization by which lower-boiling compounds are distilled off to be separated. At the same time, steam is injected into the bottom of the distillation tower 4, while keeping a vacuum in the tower, to distill off and separate lower-boiling compounds from the coal tar streams at lower temperature.
