Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce an azoalkane derivative in a high yield almost without forming by-products while using ready operations by reacting an a α,α'- dihalogenoazoalkane with a carboxylic acid (metal salt) in the presence of an amine.
CONSTITUTION: This azoalkane derivative of formula III can be produced by reacting (A) an α,α'-dihalogenoazoalkane of formula I (R1 and R2 are each a lower alkyl or an aryl; X is a halogen) with (B) a carboxylic acid of the formula R3COOH (R3 is an alkyl or an aryl) and/or its metal salt in the presence of an amine such as a primary to tertiary amine, a heterocyclic amine or a condensed amine. In addition, this reaction is conducted generally at about 0 to 40°C (preferably about 10 to 30°C) for about 1 to 12hr (preferably about 1 to 4hr).
