Abstract:
PURPOSE: To efficiently obtain the subject derivative useful as a synthetic intermediate, etc., for antimicrobial agents according to simple operation by treating a specific azathiazabicycloalkane compound (salt) with a base in the presence of a desulfurizing agent and reacting the resultant compound with an active esterifying agent for hydroxyl group.
CONSTITUTION: A 1-aza-3-thia-bicycloalkane compound (salt) expressed by formula I [R1 is (protected)hydroxy-substituted lower alkyl or (protected)amino; R2 is H or ester residue; X is (lower alkyl-substituted)methylene, S or A-CH2 (A is O, S or methylene)] is treated with a base such as tert-butoxypotassium in the presence of a desulfurizing agent such as triphenylphosphine to provide a product, which is then made to react with an active esterifying agent for hydroxyl group such as diphenyl phosphate. Thereby, the objective derivative expressed by formula II (W is activated ester residue of hydroxyl group) is obtained.
