Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject copolymer having balanced impact resistance and rigidity by polymerizing propylene with a catalyst produced by contacting an olefin with a specific solid catalyst component, an organic At compound and a specific organic Si compound and copolymerizing ethylene to the obtained propylene polymer.

CONSTITUTION: This block copolymer of propylene is produced by polymerizing propylene using a polymerization catalyst component obtained by contacting (A) a solid catalyst component containing metal oxide, Mg, Ti, halogen and an electron-donative compound as essential components with (B) an olefin in the presence of (C) an organic Al compound and (D) an organic Si compound containing cyclic ether group and expressed by the formula [R1 is univalent cyclic substituent having ether or thioether bond in the ring; R2 is 1-10C hydrocarbon group, OR4 (R4 is 3-10C hydrocarbon group), SiR53 (R5 is 1-10C hydrocarbon group) or OSiR63 (R6 is same as R5); R3 is methyl or ethyl; (x) is 1 or 2; (y) is 0 or 1; (z) is 2 or 3; (x+y+z) is 4] and copolymerizing propylene and ethylene in the presence of the produced highly crystalline polypropylene.
