Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reactional selectivity in a stage of esterifying reaction and produce a carbodithioate derivative which is a starting substance for producing 5-pyrazole mercaptan derivatives useful for synthesizing sulfonylurea-based herbicides.
SOLUTION: An alkylhydrazine (e.g. methylhydrazine) is reacted with hydrogen disulfide in an aqueous solution containing a base (e.g. sodium hydroxide) dissolved therein and the esterifying reaction of the resultant product with an electrophilic substance of the formula R-Cl (R is a 1-4C alkyl, etc.), etc., is then carried out to afford the objective compound of the formula (R2 is H, a 1-4C alkyl, etc.). Furthermore, the esterification is conducted according to a reaction of the two-phase system using a nonpolar solvent and a phase-transfer catalyst. During the reaction, methylene chloride, etc., are used as the nonpolar solvent and a quaternary ammonium halide is used in an amount of 0.001-1.0 equiv. based on the alkylhydrazine.
