Abstract:
PURPOSE:To maintain the excellent fire resistance, heat insulating property, cold insulating property, and sound insulating property of the title ceramic and to improve the moldability and smokeless and odorless property by mixing clay into the residue from the refining of oil at the time of producing the ceramic. CONSTITUTION:The mixed oil of >=1 kind selected from petroleum-based low- grade oil (e.g., heavy oil) or coal-based low-grade oil (e.g., coal tar) is distilled in the presence of metals such as lead, tin, and platinum or their oxide, chloride, nitrate, etc., to obtain refined oil and the residue. Subsequently, (B) 100-800pts. wt. clay and (C) 5-60pts.wt. glass fibers, as required, are mixed into (A) 100pts. wt. of the obtained residue which is solid or a viscous liq. by using a kneader. The kneaded material is then molded into an optional form such as sheet, dried, it necessary, and then heated and sintered at 800-2,500 deg.C.
