PURPOSE: To provide a production method of carbonic acid ester capable of producing in high selectivity and yield by keeping high activity of a catalyst for a long time while suppressing side reactions at acid points on the solid catalyst and free from corrosion of a reaction apparatus and contamination of chlorine components into the product because of containing no hydrogen chloride in the reaction system.
CONSTITUTION: In this production method, a carbonic acid ester is produced by a gas-phase catalytic reaction of carbon monoxide with a nitrous acid ester in the presence of a solid catalyst. The solid catalyst is prepared by supporting a platinum group-metal ion and an alkali metal ion and/or an alkaline earth metal ion on an ion exchange-type zeolite through ion exchange reaction and at the same time hydrogen ion at an atomic ratio of 0.1-0.6 based on aluminum through ion exchange reaction and further supporting a compound of at least one kind of metal selected from zinc, copper, cobalt, nickel, magnesium and potassium.
