Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method for producing a carrier for immobilization which is high in activity and large in strength at a low cost.
CONSTITUTION: After polyvinyl alcohol is heated and dissoved in water, it is gelatinized by a refrigeration method or a boric acid method and preferably granulated to 3-10mm in particle size. Then the gelatinized and granulated substance is dried until moisture is regulated to 20-50%. The same is preferably immersed in seed sludge dispersed by adding sodium pyrophosphate. Since gelatinization and granulation are performed in a state wherein seed sludge is absent, activity of seed sludge is not deteriorated and also high strength is obtained.
