Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prepare a highly reliable cell for liquid-crystal sealing which can be produced through relatively low-temp. curing in a short time by using as the sealing material a resin composition consisting mainly of an epoxy resin, a hardener, a curing accelerator, a rubber, a coupling agent, etc.
CONSTITUTION: An epoxy resin (e.g. a bisphenol A epoxy resin) is mixed mainly with a hardener (e.g. carbohydrazide), a curing accelerator (e.g. 3-phenyl-1,1- dimethylurea), a rubber (e.g. a butadiene/acrylonitrile copolymer rubber), a coupling agent (e.g. vinyltrichlorosilane), a filler (e.g. calcium carbonate), and a solvent (e.g. toluene) to produce a resin composition for liquid-crystal sealing. This composition is applied as a sealing material to a cell substrate, which is then superposed on an adherend. The resulting structure is heated to cure the composition to thereby produce a cell for liquidcrystal sealing.
